Speakeasy Jazz Limerick Gigs At Shannon Rowing Club

SpeakeasyJazz Limerick Kicked off with a bang on Thursday May 14th in Shannon Rowing Club. The first night hosted the outstanding musical wiles of local outfit “inSErt naMe HeRe”(Joe O’Callaghan, Steve Hanks, Bandi and Bart Kiely) who jammed out plenty of abstract jazz grooves mixed with some unusual world music sounds. The band kept listeners in their grip intil Dj Peter Curtin took over and had the crowd bopping away happily until the wee hours.
The venue of course held it’s own as one of our best, sitting right over the beautiful river Shannon and providing truly awe inspiring surroundings.
SpeakeasyJazz continues on June 11th with the David Irwin Ensemble. David Irwin, Mike Hinchy, Matt O’Gara and Ray Murphy will play a mixture of old standards with thoughtful reworkings of modern tunes, leaving plenty of room for improvisation with moments of energy and stillness to inspire, provoke and entertain the discerning listener. Followed by Dj Wick Daddy Gee who will carry you through to the end, until somebody pulls the plug!!

This month SpeakeasyJazz will hold an extra date: John Gardner, Stephen Parker and Peter Hanagan will play on June 25th, stay tuned for more info!
